Have you ever wanted to visit a Bavarian Village? You do not have to travel all the way to Europe to visit one, you just have to take a trip to Leavenworth, Washington.

A small city located in Chelan County, Washington, Leavenworth was named after Captain Charles Leavenworth who owned the land in the present-day downtown area, and who made sure that the streets were parallel to the new railroad tracks. When the railroad was transferred to another town in the 1920’s, it affected the city’s economy, and for a long period of time, the city struggled. It was in 1962 that the city was transformed into a make-believe Bavarian village which revitalized its economy. Today, the town is where to go if you want to enjoy an authentic Bavarian experience.  The city is 78 miles from Seattle and best reached by land travel. The nearest airport to the city is the Pangborn Memorial Airport served by Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air.

Your Bavarian experience in Leavenworth must start at the Andreas Keller Restaurant. The moment you step in, you know you are in for a treat. This is where you can savor traditional Bavarian food, imported draft beers, and be entertained with live Bavarian music. After which, you can check out a number of breweries and distilleries including the Icicle Brewing Company, Doghaus Brewery, Blue Spirits Distilling, and  It's 5 Artisan Distillery. It also has a number of wineries where you can sample one of the best wines in Washington. The Nutcracker Museum is a must visit which features hundreds of wooden nutcrackers of all shapes and sizes. You can also enjoy numerous activities including sleigh rides, skiing and snowboarding during winter and extreme adventures during summer. And if you are around the area during October, this is the best place to experience an authentic Oktoberfest!

Willkommen to Leavenworth, it is a city that must be visited soon! Consult your travel agent for more details.
